Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers/Supergirl

Melissa Benoist made her feature film debut just one year after graduating high school, appearing in the 2008 drama "Tennessee" alongside Mariah Carey, Adam Rothenberg and Ethan Peck. She appeared in several television series, including BLUE BLOODS and THE GOOD WIFE, on The Network, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Homeland," before being cast in the role of Marley Rose for seasons four and five of "Glee."

Recently, Benoist was cast in the Universal Pictures feature film "Lowriders," which takes place in the world of lowrider cars and street tagging in East Los Angeles. She will also appear in the feature films "Billy Boy," which she collaborated on with actor/singer Blake Jenner, who also wrote the film; and "Band of Robbers," a comedic thriller based on Mark Twain’s "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer."

Earlier this year, Benoist joined Al Pacino, Annette Bening, Jennifer Garner, Bobby Cannavale and Christopher Plummer in the feature film "Danny Collins," the story of an aging rocker on a journey of self-discovery. Benoist played Jamie, a desk clerk at the hotel frequented by the musician.

In 2014, Benoist starred alongside Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons in the Academy Award, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning film "Whiplash," based upon writer/director Damien Chazelle’s own experiences in the Princeton High School Studio Band.

Benoist was born and raised in Littleton, Colo., and currently resides in Los Angeles. Her birthday is Oct. 4. Follow her on Twitter at @itsmmbenoist and on Instagram at @Mbenoist
