The fifth season of KINK is bound for Nova Scotia and a visit to the kinkster scene in and around Halifax, Canada’s Ocean Playground. There’s a down home, D.I.Y. aesthetic to the scene here, a sense of learning while you go. In thirteen half-hour episodes, we get to meet, and know, the people of this year’s KINK: Sherry, Derrick & Dave, Eliese, Jeanne & Kate, and Ryan - all eager to explore the scene, even if it means creating the scene themselves.
KINK documents the fearless exploration of life beyond the sexual norms. Sexual fetish is not only reserved to large urban scenes, as KINK’s visit last season to Winnipeg revealed. The fetish community in Halifax is a different kettle of fish from the identity politics and urban sophistication of the KINK scenes the series explored in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. The scene in Halifax has a friendly feeling that mirrors the spirit of the community in which our subjects live, and presents an interesting picture of adventurous spirits who also reflect an East Coast culture that honours tradition, sincerity and simple values.
As is characteristic on KINK, this season’s episodes in Halifax focus on adventure and change. The series’ subjects all feel a deep and heartfelt need to transform themselves and push the boundaries in their personal lives. Several of our subjects are involved in serious relationships, curious and eager to explore the kinky life while trying to hold on to their beloved partners. Others are still looking for their kinkster soulmates.
Join these subjects on journeys of self-expression and self-discovery, as they explore the world of KINK.
