Hailed as one of the most innovative comedies on its first outing (sorry, Daffyd), “Little Britain” went from cult viewing to mainstream hit in just one year. Series 2 was so popular that halfway through transmission it was transferred to BBC1. It also swept the board at the awards ceremonies.
The show’s catchphrases are being repeated in homes, pubs and schools everywhere, and tickets for the live UK tour are being sold on Ebay for five times their face value. “Little Britain’s” legions of fans includes Hollywood star Johnny Depp.
Series Three of the ultimate catchphrase comedy sees the welcome return of Lou and Andy, Marjorie and the Fat Fighters club, Prime Minister Michael and Sebastian, and teenage delinquent Vicky Pollard.
Some very interesting new faces are also introduced:
Dudley, who buys Ting Tong, a mail order bride from Thailand who does not quite match up to her publicity photo.
Mrs Emery, a sweet old lady with an unfortunate inability to control certain bodily functions.
Sir Norman Fry MP who keeps getting caught in the most unconstitutional of positions.
Pampered, obese freeloader Bubbles meets her match in her husband’s new wife, ex-Olympic gymnast Desiree…
