Trailer Watch: The Avengers, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and The Bourne Legacy

Like most other weeks, this week's trailers include a couple of semi-sequels and something completely ridiculous. Check 'em out!

The Avengers

The first blockbuster of the summer 2012 season, The Avengers is set to tackle the question what would happen if we put every Marvel superhero in a movie just to see what happens? Featuring, among others, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Nick Fury and directed by Joss Whedon, this film is pretty much a fanboy's wet dream. One trailer for the film has already been released, but here's another (better) look at the upcoming film:

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter looks totally ridiculous, but in this case I think that's probably a good thing. Diverging slightly from the commonly agreed upon history of Lincoln's life, the film posits that vampires killed his mother,  sparking his quest to rid the world of the undead. Oh, and the Civil War? The North wasn't just fighting against Confederates, they were fighting against Confederate vampires.  Not exactly historical, but it looks like fun.

The Bourne Legacy

When Bourne 4 was originally announced, it was supposed to star Matt Damon and be directed by Paul Greengrass, who helmed Bourne 2 and 3.  Soon after, Greengrass  bailed, with Damon soon to follow. You might think that a Bourne film would be tough to make without a Bourne in it, but this being Hollywood the show had to go on.  Described as a "sidequel", the film stars Jeremy Renner as an agent who's dealing with the fallout of the events shown in the original trilogy. It's too bad they lost Matt Damon, but Renner is no slouch and should be able to keep the franchise going.
