Drop Dead Diva - S02E06 - "Begin Again" Blog

Wednesday, December 01, 2010 4:31 PM

The underlying tones of this week’s episode are not found in the music group represented and their murder trial, but within the lyrics of their pop hit “Begin Again” – which when you listen to in the context of the show, seem to have deliberately been written for Jane and Grayson. To begin again, this idea of reincarnation or reinvention, appeals to many. Some only long for it and others aim to achieve it on a yearly basis.

Once again, the writers have indirectly surfaced the reality that Jane is in fact Deb, and Deb desperately wants to begin again in a relationship with Grayson, but as her new self, Jane. How long is this painful longing for her lost love going to continue? Will Grayson ever see Jane in a romantic light, or will the truth ever be revealed to him that Jane is really Deb?

This storyline and these questions will not be answered here, nor speculated on my part, as I would rather watch in blind anticipation what’s next.

Instead, how about I begin again this blog? Yes, let’s talk about Fred from this episode. Oh dear Fred and his misguided lusting after Stacy. I love Fred’s constant innocence, but in this episode his innocence gives way finally to his passionate drive as he cunningly starts dating one girl just to try and make Stacy jealous. His supposed master plan doesn’t quite go as planned when he finds out Stacy is dating someone. Fred’s heart sinks in pain, and his new date leaves him for her ex.

Fred's failed determination has me questioning how many men out there really think making a girl jealous is the way to get her to notice them?

Does this backwards approach actually work for some? Would you date someone else just to make another person jealous and notice you? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

As always, until we begin another episode and I another blog, ta ta for now divas.

Watch this week's episode, if you haven't already! Or watch again!
