TIFF Is Here And THE FOUNDATION Director Michael Dowse Gets Things Rolling With FUBAR II

Thursday, September 09, 2010 1:06 AM

Leave it to a local kid to get things started off right.

Today marks the beginning of the Toronto International Film Festival and if you're looking to get the party started off right, well, you need look no farther than Showcase alumni Michael Dowse. Known in these parts as the writer / director producer of The Foundation, Dowse may not get to kick off the festival proper -- that job goes to dodgy looking hockey musical Score -- but he does get to kick of the fun part, with his FUBAR II leading off the Midnight Madness program tonight.

Here are five reasons why FUBAR II will be more fun than Score:

1. Replaces musical theater with heavy metal.

2. Score contains no dry humping of beer.

3. Rampant misuse of power tools.

4. A significantly higher number of crossbows.

5. Increased levels of alcohol fueled violence.

See? It's simple. If you want a party then go to the movie with bad hair, power tools and a flagrant disregard for human dignity while avoiding singing skaters.

For further evidence of FUBAR's superiority, I direct your attention to the red-band trailer below. It is sweary and violent and prone to binge drinking.
