Cra$h & Burn Premieres Nov. 18

Monday, November 09, 2009 3:28 PM

Cra$h and Burn is the first one-hour original drama series solely commissioned by Showcase, and we are very excited for its broadcast debut on Wednesday, November 18 at 9pm ET/PT. Before we go on, though, feast your eyes:

Frankly, that poster should be ample initiative for you to TiVo the whole thing immediately, but while you're here, we should also tell you that this 13-part series follows streetwise insurance adjuster Jimmy Burn (pictured, played by Luke Kirby of Tell Me You Love Me and Slings & Arrows fame) as he navigates the crooked corporate world of big insurance while taking down the con artists that make a living claim by claim in a city-wide organized crime ring. Scary. Between shady clients, shifty lawyers, backstabbing coworkers and, you know, the Russian mob, Jimmy has to deal with more than his share of obstacles in his quest for a quiet, stable existence.

Aside from Kirby, the cast also features Leela Savasta (Battlestar Galactica, Intelligence) as Lucia Silva, Jimmy’s feisty social worker fiancée; Caroline Cave (The L Word; This Beautiful City) as Catherine Scott, the company’s beautiful and cunning in-house lawyer; Clark Johnson (The Wire, Homicide: Life on the Street, also an Emmy-nominated director on The Shield) as Walker Hearn, a veteran insurance investigator and Steve Bacic (The Guard, Andromeda) as Korkov, a conman and Russian Mafioso hustling to scam the system.

Cra$h & Burn is executive produced by Paul Gross and Frank Siracusa, as well as Malcolm MacRury (ZOS: Zone of Separation, Deadwood). MacRury also serves as the series’ creator and showrunner.

Last, but not least, the Cra$h & Burn web presence launching in a few days will be the most elaborate and exciting show site that Showcase has ever seen. Stay tuned.

Well I wonder what the Insurance Industry in Ontario Canada will have to say about this show?

They might want it pulled but hopefully that does not happen.

Great first episode.  Not boring at all.

Is there any place on Showcase's website that lists details about the episodes? Specifically, the music used in each show? That'd be helpful...

Thanks.

This is the best series since Rescue Me. I love it. The writing is superb. The actors are absolutely perfect for their roles. Don't change a friggin' thing. This is the best Canadian production to date. I am watching it through for the second time and still lovin' it. MORE, MORE, AND FRIGGIN' MORE, Please.

I love that show but has it been canned after the first season? I can only see it on some obscure channel at 11:00 pm
