There’s been no dearth of announcements on the Showcase Original series front lately, and that’s because we can’t wait to spill the beans on these things as soon as we’re allowed to do so.
With that in mind, we’re pleased to be able to tell you about Lost Girl, a seriously intense 13-part series scheduled to air on Showcase in 2010. The show stars Anna Silk (Billable Hours, Being Erica) as Bo, a Succubus with a heart. Traditional Succubi, some will point out, are not known for being in touch with their feelings – but Bo was raised in secret by humans, and as such is a product of natural society. Kinda tough when you depend on the sexual energy of others to survive. Defiantly against becoming part of the supernatural clan from which she spawned, Bo fights her way through life, and tries her hardest to unlock the secrets of her origin and find her birth mother. (Easier said than done, as you might expect.)
Luckily, Bo has her share of help. Her back-up roster includes Kristen Holden-Reid (The Tudors, the upcoming Ben Hur remake) as Dyson, an inhuman cop involved in a love/hate relationship with Bo. Which is to say: he absolutely hates how much he loves her. Two-time Gemini Award winner Ksenia Solo (Renegadepress.com) stars as Kenzie, Bo’s street-smart and fiercely loyal human best friend. The cast also includes Rick Howland (Bon Cop, Bad Cop) as Trick, a friendly saloon keeper with something to hide.
We'll have lots more on Lost Girl as we get closer to the premiere. Production is well underway on an interactive website, a graphic novel, and a downloadable video game.
The series is executive produced by Jay Firestone, Paul Rapovksi, Plato Fountidakis, Michelle Lovretta and Peter Mohan. Lovretta also serves as Creator/Writer for
