I can’t believe today is the day we’ve all been waiting for. I mean, I don’t know if you’ve been waiting, because it’s possible that you weren’t even aware. But ever since I updated my Terrance Howard calendar a few months ago, all my calendars have been marked with neat red X’s – all leading up to this one special day.
It’s the day, my friends, that Howard (or Terrance, as I call him in my dreams) finally released his first album, Shine Through It.
Not only is this an exceptionally unique name for an album, Mr. Howard is an exceptionally unique artist who burst onto the scene in 2005 with his rap renditions of pimp life in
Hustle & Flow. Boasting the small but powerful fan base of J Lo and Mark Anthony, Howard Shines Through his first single, Sanctuary, singing falsetto and bringing to light the true nature of love like no singer has done before.
While I expected some rap crap or something perhaps a little upbeat, Howard surprises fans with a song that could actually be a tribute to one of today’s greatest talents: Mark Anthony himself. It’s no surprise that Howard went on tour with Anthony to get his performance skills down pat before venturing out into the music world to share his magically spun verses with the rest of us.
I want to be the first to thank Terrance Howard for sharing his musical prowess with the world and most importantly, me. Thanks Terrance. You’ll never know how important you are to all of us.
Much love,
SS
