Is your summer dragging along like a filthy ream of toilet paper stuck to the bottom of your shoe? Yeah, mine too. It literally stinks like shit. But just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, a beautiful ray of sunshine comes ripping through the clouds to illuminate your otherwise miserable existence: Kenny Hotz’s
Testees.
Coming this October to Showcase,
Testees tells the story of two best friends and roommates who work for TESTICO, a somewhat-shady product testing facility. In each episode, Peter and Ron are given a new product, experimental medication or treatment to test. The show documents their attempts to live their lives while coping with the unimaginable side effects. The first official Showcase/FX co-production is slated for a 13-episode run, and begins shooting late summer.
Testees stars Jeff Kassel (
This is Wonderland, Earth: Final Conflict) as testee Ron. His lab-partner Peter is played by Steve Markle, creator of the incredible web-series,
Inside Steve’s Mind. And, of course, the whole package comes from the gentle orchid that is Kenny Hotz’s mind, so
the humour is sure to be as subtle and delicately pruned as a Japanese banzai.
Domo origato, Mr. Hotz. You’ve made my summer (almost) liveable.
