Hot Snack Attack

Friday, April 25, 2008 3:49 PM

Something’s different about the internet today.  It feels brighter, funnier, more comfortable with itself.  It’s like today, the internet can just be.  And it’s all because Hot Snack Radio has arrived.  A comedic master work in 13 parts, Hot Snack follows the day-to-day dalliances of Gavin and Nico, co-hosts of the titular internet radio show.  You’ll like it.  We promise.

The show was directed by Matt Eastman and stars an amazing cast that includes Tim Beresford (pictured, right, with Tusks bassist/vocalist Samir Khan), Michael Balazo, James Cade and Joan Wolkoff.  To celebrate the launch, showcase.ca hosted a slamming jammy-jam last night at Levack Block here in Toronto, and the show was met with unbridled bliss.  We had a great turnout, including mega-celebs Don McKellar and Edgar Wright, and a good time was had by all.  The media (including the fine folks from E!) were on hand to document the glorious gathering, and Hot Snack was introduced in style.

Tim Beresford, who plays Gavin on the show, described the experience thusly:

“I could liken it to a mother getting pregnant, and how that’s a natural thing for a woman to encounter.  Then the few months when the post-production stuff was happening, I would liken that to the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.  There was some pain, and there were some cathartic, euphoric moments.  And tonight, the midwives came in, and we gave birth.  And it was beautiful.  We all got loaded and gave birth to a baby together.”

Watch it here, and check back for new episodes being added every Thursday.  And please let us know what you think in the comments below!

Is it just me or do the episodes not play in Safari?

In Firefox, great! In Safari, not so much.

But keep up the good work - looking forward to checking out more.
