Those who weathered the freak blizzard that hit Toronto Tuesday night to get to The Opera House to see The Bravery were in luck. The New York indie kids fucking killed.
A high energy show kept the crowd warm, even if the crowd was annoyingly composed of faux hipster chauvinistic douchesacks (to the freakishly tall guy standing directly behind me for the duration of the show, I feel obliged to inform you that “double bagging it” doesn’t actually stave off STDs from the “skanks” you’ll be doing, it actually increases the risk of infection). To be fair, the crowd was energetic, which is way better than catatonic.
Feeding off the crowd’s vigour, The Bravery delivered a kickass show, playing all their hits and a few remixed versions of songs like “The Ocean,” which will appear on their new album, coming out in March. The most energetic song was definitely “An Honest Mistake,” but their performances of “Public Service Announcement” and “Time Won’t Let Me Go” also stood out. And, the show the next night (Feb 13) was cancelled because lead singer Sam Edicott had bronchitis. I can only imagine the kind of show the band would play if they were healthy.

You’re welcome,
