Oh snap! Whatever you do, don’t get on Steven Hirschs’ bad side.
He’s the Vivid co-chairman (and guy pictured left) that just filed a lawsuit Monday against an adult version of YouTube, called PornoTube, and its parent company Data Conversions Inc. alleging the sexy site profited from piracy by letting users post videos with copyrighted material, according to
The L.A. Times.
Hirsh’s clout in the adult community as a leading porn producer with cock-buster films (
The New Devil in Miss Jones and
Debbie Does Dallas, Again) launched careers like Jenna Jameson, Canadian
Web Dreams starlet Malezia and Savanna Samson to name but a few.
So what gives?
The L.A. Times also reports that “the suit accuses PornoTube of hosting excerpts of tapes that include such Vivid titles as
Night Nurses,
Where the Boys Aren't 7 and the private work of TV personality Kim Kardashian. The suit seeks damages of $150,000 per infringed work.” Double snap!
Aside from
Viacom Inc.’s suit against YouTube filed earlier this year, you know when the pornographers start suing it means big business. The adult film industry is always
ahead of the game with its influence in technological advances (VHS vs. Beta for example). But in this case they're lagging behind in the digital game; falling prey to the same problems facing the rest of the film world.
Even in the porn world people don't always like getting screwed.
