Fox Spaces Out

Tuesday, October 30, 2007 2:29 PM

So, earlier this fall Showcase aired Spaced, during which time I managed to catch an interview with Simon Pegg.

A month later, it was announced that Pegg would play Mr. Scott in the upcoming, J.J. Abrams reboot of the Star Trek feature film franchise.

The cast of the original Spaced.Well, if that wasn't topical enough, now it seems that Fox will be producing an Americanized version of Spaced for the U.S. market. Things are still in the early deal-making portion of the shows time frame, as this story in Variety points out, but I for one have low hopes for the whole endeavor.

You see, McG, the cheese ball director of many high gloss music videos, the Charlie's Angels movie and many episodes of The O.C. and Chuck is gonna be steering the project. Now, McG has some capabilities, but his focus group approach to making funny doesn't hold a candle to the spot on hilarity delivered time and again by Pegg and his collaborators on Spaced, Edgar Wright and Jessica Stevenson.

I'll probably still watch it though, out of (self) spite.

You guys should bring back Dead Like Me. That's the one and only good show to come out of Showcase, everything else sucks.

SABILLASVILLE, Md. – On a sultry day in July 2008, Marine Sgt. David W. Budwah strode in his duel fatigues to the head of a picnic pavilion to blow the whistle on three dozen puerile boys what he did during the war.

With his unambiguous regard, rigid arrangement and muscled, tattooed arms, Budwah looked every inch the luminary he claimed to be. He said he was on his other expedition of duty in Afghanistan when a homemade grenade exploded, wounding his aspect and arm when he dove order sildenafil  to protect a buddy from the blast.
