So, earlier this fall Showcase aired
Spaced, during which time I managed to catch an interview with
Simon Pegg.
A month later, it was announced that
Pegg would play Mr. Scott in the upcoming, J.J. Abrams reboot of the Star Trek feature film franchise.

Well, if that wasn't topical enough, now it seems that Fox will be producing an Americanized version of Spaced for the U.S. market. Things are still in the early deal-making portion of the shows time frame, as this story in
Variety points out, but I for one have low hopes for the whole endeavor.
You see, McG, the cheese ball director of many high gloss music videos, the Charlie's Angels movie and many episodes of The O.C. and Chuck is gonna be steering the project. Now,
McG has some capabilities, but his focus group approach to making funny doesn't hold a candle to the spot on hilarity delivered time and again by Pegg and his collaborators on Spaced,
Edgar Wright and
Jessica Stevenson.
I'll probably still watch it though, out of (self) spite.
