What It's Gonna Be

Tuesday, September 18, 2007 2:14 PM

Ken Jeong and Mike O'Connell ARE Million Dollar Strong.Well the Internet has gone and done it again: delivered us two fresh new stars whose irreverent brand of comedy became a Youtube phenomena. What's It Gonna Be is a parody rap song featuring a bearded WASP-y fellow (played by Mike O'Connell) gruffly rapping while his silver jump suited Asian backup singer (M.D. turned funny guy, Ken Jeong aka Dr. Ken) wails the overbearing chorus.

The gist of the song revolves around a desperate plea for physical love, strangely delivered in tandem by the duo, who are apparently known as Million Dollar Strong. The hilarity so soundly produced by these two veteran comedians is no surprise, as both have been working the L.A. improv circuit for some time and Jeong in particular has appeared in a number of TV and Film roles.

What is noteworthy is that according to Variety, Million Dollar Strong have spun off their web video into a full blown feature film backed by MTV Films and veteran comedy director/writer/producer Todd Philips. Details are few at this point, but it is clear that the two men will reprise their role as this unlikely hip hop act. In general however, it's great to see that Youtube and Funnyordie.com (where the video was also a huge hit) are actually becoming true talent incubators. Sure, Channel 101 has been barking up that particular tree for a while, but this time, it's real. MTV REAL!
