Have you ever had a secret about yourself that you’re dying to tell the world, but haven't had the guts to share? A few years ago, a small business owner named Frank Warren made it possible to clear the air anonymously. He invited secret holders of all backgrounds to mail him their previously guarded secrets via creatively decorated postcards, which he would then post on his site.
The flood of post cards was huge and
postsecret.com, the blog displaying the fascinating collection of cards, was soon bursting with secrets of hope, humiliation, regret, lost loves, thanks, betrayal, sexual fetishes and confession. The site continues to be updated with new cards and attracts over three million visitors each month.
This popularity led Warren to compile the cards into his first book,
Postsecret: Extraordinary Confessions From Ordinary Lives. A
second and
third book followed and a fourth print installment,
A Lifetime of Secrets, is due for release in October of 2007. Warren promises
A Lifetime of Secrets will present a never before seen collection of the most provocative and outrageous post secrets he has received to date. Definitely a must have for fans of the site or the books.
As an added bonus, there are rumblings of
a Postsecret event in Toronto on May 31st - for more details,
send an email to this address or join the facebook group ! Of course, the ultimate way to get involved is to send in a secret of your own.
Divulge your darkest onto a 4X6 postcard, and keep it brief and legible:
