Five Hole Stories with Dave Bidini

Monday, February 19, 2007 1:21 PM

The Five Hole StoriesI have to preface this by saying I'm a huge fan of Dave Bidini's. I tuned into the Rheostatics early in my adolescence, attended countless shows, read most of his works. An Etobicoke native (as am I), this Canadian rock legend keeps expanding his many artistic traits.

So when I spoke with him yesterday about his latest book, The Five Hole Stories, I was a little more than excited, and he didn't disappoint. Dave tackles a new genre of fictitious stories in what can simply be dubbed as: erotic hockey. The title refers to one of a goalie's five weak spots, the fifth hole is between the goalie's legs and it's an obvious sexual reference too.

Having written about hockey before, Dave's new venture heads into hockey's locker room and unveils six erotic stories about the sport's cast of characters. As an avid community hockey player and enthusiast, Dave's seen a lot more than just penis' in the locker room. "Hockey is a place where guys can be together, can even be naked emotionally.

"Emotions are bare in the locker room (and) it's a good environment to mine interesting stories of human nature," says Dave.

Dave is doing a book signing this Thursday, February 22 from 8-9PM at Come As Your Are at 701 Queen Street West in Toronto to help celebrate their 10th year anniversary festivities.
