Fact Blast #1: Did you know that the internet works better in the winter, because fibre optic cable runs faster in cold weather?

That is completely not true, but would be awesome if it was.

Fact Blast #2:  Did you know the internet was invented in December and was originally called the 'winternet'?

Also not true.  But it would make for a clever little pun in the right situation. Just make sure people know you're joking – that's how rumours start.

One thing that is (probably) true, is that the internet is more fun in the winter, as it’s so cold and crappy outside that you just stay in and surf the web until your eyeballs dry out and your ears start ringing. So to jumpstart your webby winter weekend I wanted to pass along a few links:


Eugene Mirman:  I’ve been a fan of Eugene Mirman since seeing him open for Stella in Ann Arbour, Michigan two years ago – but it’s The Marvelous Crooning Child from his website that really won my heart.  Seriously, what’s better than hearing a baby sing Heart of Gold?  Nothing.  The answer is nothing.  No, stop it.  I’m telling you, there’s nothing.




JoeRogan.net:  While the personal blog of this Fear Factor mega-hunk would not normally be of much interest, Joe Rogan is having a shit week by anyone’s standards.  Last Saturday night he called out fellow comedian Carlos Mencia onstage at The Comedy Store for being a joke thief (awesome video at the bottom of the post).  He then gets a call from the Store on Tuesday letting him know that he's banned from the club (after 13 years), and then yesterday his agent drops him.  TGIF, Joe Rogan.  TGIF.


The Boohbah Zone:  Feeling insane today?  No?  That’s probably because you haven’t visited the Boohbah Zone.  I have no words to describe this site - it’s like falling asleep at a Floyd concert and waking up inside a disco ball.  I just spent 10 minutes in there and I feel like I need therapy.





An apology is in order: Now this is a little embarrassing.  I gave you such a hard time about nothing being funnier than a baby singing Neil Young, when all the while I was overlooking probably the funniest thing possible in life: animals wearing clothes.  This site is the first and last stop for those who appreciate pets in people clothes.  Now really, really seriously.  Nothing’s funnier than that.
