Amsterdamly Fabulous

Tuesday, February 06, 2007 11:04 AM

Ah, Amsterdam, the home of weed on demand, sex on demand and now concerts on demand? Thanks to a little website called Fabchannel you can stream full-length concerts of your favourite indie bands and performers for free—and, apparently it’s legit. A quick search through their 700 files brought up Canadian boys Alexisonfire, British pop darling Lily Allen and indie giants Bloc Party (who incidentally grace the pages of Nylon mag this month… just in case you care). There’s a catch though: the concerts either took place at pop venues Paradiso or Melkweg, so you might not find your favourite artist if they’ve never landed in the Netherlands.

On this side of the pond, BlogTV (owned and operated by Showcase’s parent company, Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting Inc.), broadcast their first-ever live concert over the web last Friday. You can watch DJ Luke Fair bring the beats to electronic music lovers at Toronto’s hip venue, It’s Definitely Not a Deli here.
