The Beatdown - v.01

Thursday, February 01, 2007 10:15 AM

Outside (and often inside) my cubicle, life is all about House music. I wouldn’t go as far as saying “it’s a spiritual thing,” but the sounds of obsessed computer geeks quite frankly soothes my soul.

Henry Rollins This fascination is usually found incomprehensible to those who just can’t stand that “techno” music.  This includes rock and roll cougars like Henry Rollins.

During his recent blogTV.ca chat I asked for his thoughts on the rise in popularity of the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) scene.  Unfortunately this was his response:

“I’m too old and ugly to hold a glow stick and jump up and down on ketamine.” At least he got the first part right.  Hey, I didn't say it, he did!

“I wish young people would do it drug free…”  Ever been under the mushroom cloud of a Rolling Stones concert Henry?

“Anyone who grabs two turntables and a microphone and plays other people’s music and calls themselves an artist…”  Thank God he stopped there.

As informed as this dude is, he is completely in the weeds on this issue.

To ensure the Showcase community is not as blind as this Freebird, we’ve started this weekly column for those “in the know” on the artists who make the likes of Madonna sound so groovy and Spiderman so swingin’.

Check in regularly for Canadian EDM news and event listings.

This weekend’s featured event is actually online and not in a club…

I like the techno music. Yesterday I listened to Ministry's classic Tricky Disco. It was nice.

Henry Rolllins peaked in the movie the "Chase", which is scary cause Charlie Sheen just peaked on 2 and a 1/2 men. What does this all mean? Nothing.
