The Suicide Bridge

Friday, January 12, 2007 1:49 PM

The BridgeIn 2004, director Eric Steel and his crew planted cameras in two locations around San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. The video captured more than 20 suicides on film, some in broad daylight, at the same time preventing others (including the woman pictured left who police nabbed just before jumping).

The documentary, The Bridge
focuses on the lives of lost people as much as it does the images of the bridge. Interviews with friends and family members still mourning fresh wounds are connected with stories of depression and severe mental illness of those who died.

O
ne young man actually survives the four second, 120 km per hour drop and lives to tell the story.

The documentary is just one of the featured films in the Doc Soup series.

Wow flashbacks of a Physics class gone wrong.

"If F=ma, then in four seconds how fast will a young man be travelling if he jumps off the Golden Gate Bridge".

In all seriousness, what a creepy documentary.  Really makes you feel glad to be alive.
