I'm still sitting at home watching a big a$$ tube television and now they're saying the next level - the plasma - is on the brink of becoming obsolete! The newest addition to the digital generation, the laser television, by all standards puts my home entertainment set-up into the
Stone Age.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports on this latest development in visual technology by Australian company Arasor International and its US partner Novalux. The article outlines the laser television’s almost unbelievable advantages over its
LCD and plasma rivals and goes on to suggest that the technology will also extend into the mobile world and beyond. Novalux chief executive Jean-Michel Pelaprat goes as far as predicting that soon after the TV's Christmas 2007 worldwide launch, the plasma television will be displaced.
Can you believe that? Yes, it’s extremely exciting to know that technology continues to evolve, but at such a pace? Am I the only one who is a little terrified by this? How do you keep up? At what income level do you need to be at to be able to stay current with all the newest, most efficient gadgets of the day? I definitely don't have the answers, I'm not sure anyone really does. If you do, let me know because I’m starting to feel like my parents.
