Be a Contortionist

Sunday, January 07, 2007 4:46 PM

Looking for new party tricks? Why not learn the art of extreme stretching, and show the crowd what your knee joints are really made of?

Essentially the hardcore version of yoga, contortionism increases flexibility and muscle endurance by hyper-extending body parts and bending them into bizarre positions. Even stiff people can become twisty with routine stretches and exercises. Jonathan Nosan’s Contortion Guide is a beginner’s resource that dispels contortion myths and aids users with photos to complement each stretch.

Look at Bendy Chick for example, she mastered the "What’s that Smell?" pose in three weeks! Don't run off to the Cirque just yet, you have to practice these skills to maintain them. The Contortion Home Page is also a good resource that answers all your rookie questions, if you should find yourself in a bind.
