FAQ
Questions about submitting show proposals to Showcase
Q: How can I submit an original series pitch to Showcase?
A: The drama team commissions one-hour dramas and half-hour comedies aimed at adults 25-54 for Global Television and Showcase. We're looking for edgy, challenging and dramatic one-hour concepts with strong narratives and an episodic motor for both our conventional and specialty channels, with the edgier and more provocative "cable" concepts for our specialty channel Showcase. Shows that do well for us include Rookie Blue, Haven, XIII, and Lost Girl.
On the half-hour front we're looking for half-hour comedies that fit well with the current Showcase schedule and are able to sustain audiences week after week. Episodic comedies that encourage co-viewing are ideal.
The original dramatic programming team consists of:
Tara Ellis – Senior Director, Original Drama Content
Rachel Nelson – Director, Original Drama Content
Susan Alexander – Production Executive, Original Drama Content
Stephen Finney – Production Executive, Original Drama Content
Proposals should be sent with release forms [download here] to Factual and Drama Submissions at Submissionsfactualdrama@shawmedia.ca.
